Nowadays many banks are offering getting a consumer loan at revealing only a passport and an identification code. It turns out that such an ‘imposition’ on the banks has become as attractive for fraudsters as jam for wasps.
Here are some examples of the most wide-spread credit frauds on Ukrainian market (with life experiences):
- Credits are received at revealing stolen or fake passports, but for real people. It means, a person lives his / her life not even suspecting that he / she has just gotten a credit. And one beautiful day he / she receives a letter informing that he / she has to pay rather big credit urgently. As an example, here is a story of how can one receive a credit with the help of your passport.
- Also it is possible to arrange a credit for another person on their behalf. One friend of mine suddenly got married, and her husband persuaded her to get a credit for an expensive car, and he soon ran away having taken that car with him, and left all debts for his wife. Now she can’t prove anything as she got a credit voluntarily.
- Most often there is a passport taken, and necessary Kyiv residence is written (it is not a problem now to put a stamp). After this a consumer credit is taken which is not returned afterwards, and it is almost impossible to find a fraudster by his residence. From such a fraud some friends of mine have recently suffered. They have been giving for rent their flat, and a consumer loan for it has been gotten not once by several people. The fact that the apartment address was mentioned in bank credit deals they found out only in a couple of months.
And it is not clear who we can blame in frauds of this kind, may be the fraudsters have become cleverer and can cheat both a bank and common people, or bank workers don’t want to work at all if they are simply unable to check the data given by customers. But one thing is definitely clear – it is that in both cases suffer innocent people.
From my personal experience I can say that the first thing you should do having found yourself in situation like this is to file an application to the militia. And then – to the bank that is demanding paying a credit. Otherwise you might have to pay someone else’s loan.
