Description of the sight
Nicholas Church in Dnipro is the oldest church in the city. A stone church was built in Novye Kodaki instead of the previously existing wooden Cossack church from 1650. In the summer of 1807, in Novy Kodak (Dnepropetrovsk), Archpriest John Stanislavsky consecrated the land for a church, and a cross was erected at the site of future work. Construction lasted three years. Nicholas Church has a strongly elongated branch on the western side and a semicircular apse. Square outbuildings are located around the temple building. Above the central part of the church rises an octagonal dome with an unusual lantern with an onion. The construction of the temple ended in 1810. In the thirties, the church was closed and an ammunition depot was placed in its building. During the Great Patriotic War, the church resumed its activities. In 2004, a Sunday parish school was opened here. Today the church is open for services, inviting all believers to pray. The church looks especially beautiful and solemn during major religious holidays.
