Description of the sight
The Botanical Garden of Dnipropetrovsk National University is one of the favorite places for recreation among city residents and students. In total, several thousand species of plants grow in the garden, including those that do not grow in the local steppe area. Recently, the territory of the Botanical Garden was merged with the former Gagarin Park and now its territory stretches along Gagarin Avenue to Kazakov Street itself. The Botanical Garden was founded by Professor Reinhard in 1931, when the first trees were planted. Over time, the garden grew and replenished with new plant species. In August 1963, the garden was declared a protected area, which was confirmed in 1996 by a signed decree of the President of Ukraine. The Botanical Garden has always been very popular with tourists and citizens, but for several years it has been closed to the public. The garden has an exhibition center where visitors can view and purchase a variety of flowers and plants.
