Description of the sight
Holy Trinity Cathedral is the church of the Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate. The building of the cathedral is a representative of the architecture of the XVIII century in the Baroque style, and after the construction it became an object around which the city began to build up. Initially, the cathedral would have been built as a Catholic church, on the site of an old wooden one. The building was completed in 1755 and throughout its history served as the residence of the bishop, a prison, a gymnasium, in Soviet times - the police department and the investigation department of the NKVD. In 1992 he was transferred to the Orthodox Church. The facade and interior of the cathedral have many decorations, including pilasters, cornices, niches of various shapes and other details. Inside the temple is decorated with a gilded oak iconostasis of the 17th century and murals. The cathedral also has nine bells, the oldest was cast in 1820.
