Description of the sight
The main, and accordingly, the most beautiful street of Vinnitsa is called the Cathedral. It must be said that since its appearance, it has changed its name five times, having visited Pochtovaya, Nikolaevskiy and Ukrainskiy avenues, and twice Lenin street. In fact, it is the name "Cathedral" that is historically correct, because once, on the right-bank part of the city, where this street is located, there was only the Catholic temple complex "Jurydika". Sobornaya Street crosses the city center from the Southern Bug River to Gagarin Square. It housed several buildings of particular importance for the city, of religious significance, each of which is a city landmark - this is the Church of the Holy Virgin Mary of Angels and the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral, Mura and the Jesuit Monastery, in whose building the state regional archive is now located. The length of Cathedral Street is 1.6 km.
