It is easy to get from Khmelnitsky to Kamenetz-Podolsky by your own car, moving along the H03 highway. From the railway station and the bus station, you can get to the statue of the Mother of God by bus number 7. You need to get off at Troitskaya Square and then walk along Petropavlovskaya Street, turning after to Tatarskaya, where the sculpture is located.
Description of the sight
In the 17th century, a Catholic cathedral was built on this site, but then the Turks came and rebuilt the cathedral into a mosque and, of course, built a minaret in their usual way. But soon the Poles and Ukrainians returned, and they recaptured Kamenets-Podolsky. The mosque became a cathedral again. That's when they installed a statue of the Virgin Mary on the minaret. You can even see that the Mother of God tramples the crescent with her feet.
