The place is located at the crossroads of three streets - Vladimirskaya, Desyatinnaya and Andreevsky Spusk. From Vokzalnaya Square, 1 (the central railway station in Kyiv), you need to walk 73 meters in the direction of the stop (Central railway station). Next, take a fixed-route taxi No. 181, then go in the direction of Lvivska Square. On Lvovskaya Square, you need to transfer to trolleybus No. 6, No. 16, No. 18 and go in the direction of Vladimirskaya Street (approximate travel time - 2 minutes). Getting off at the bus stop, you need to walk 650 meters in the direction of Starokievskaya Gora.
Description of the sight
Starokievskaya Gora - the historical center of the city, the place where the history of Kyiv began. It was here, according to legend, that Kiy, the founder of the city, began to reign. A memorial stone is installed here, with the words "From here the Russian land appeared." The development of the mountain is divided into several periods. The first period "City of Kyiv" is an ancient fortified settlement, covering an area of about 2 hectares, surrounded by ramparts and was previously built up with wooden structures. "City of Vladimir" refers to the X century, during this period the construction of stone structures began, from which the foundations remained. During the time of Yaroslav the Wise, the territory increases, the mountain becomes a place of worship and sacrifices to pagan gods. Later, the area began to be built up with Christian churches. Here appeared the first stone building in Russia - the Church of the Tithes. Also on Starokievsky Hill you can see other ancient monuments of Russian architecture.
