Description of the sight
Chernobyl is a city in the Ivankovsky district of the Kyiv region of Ukraine. Chernobyl is located on the Pripyat River, not far from its confluence with the Kiev reservoir. Notorious for the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. Before the accident, about 13 thousand people lived in the city. According to the All-Ukrainian census of 2001, Chernobyl (like Pripyat) is classified as a city "without a population". Currently, less than a thousand people live in the city: employees of institutions and enterprises of the Exclusion Zone and unconditional guaranteed evacuation of the Chernobyl NPP, working on a rotational basis, and self-settlers (84 self-settlers according to the State Enterprise "COTIZ" as of February 2017).
