You can get to the Rotunda from the railway station of Uzhgorod by minibus number 10. You need to get out in the Gortsy microdistrict and follow Gorskikh Street until you turn right, which leads to a small hill, where you will see a monument.
Description of the sight
Uzhgorod can boast of one of the most ancient monuments of the sacred architecture of Ukraine - Goryanskaya rotunda (rotunda - means a round structure). The Church of St. Anne is located in a picturesque place on the ledge of the rock of the Antalovets meadow. In architectural terms, the rotunda itself is a round building with walls up to 2 meters thick. Inside, in the form of a hexagon, there are 5 semicircular niches with three windows. Frescoes of the XII-XV centuries The exact date of the foundation of the Goryanskaya rotunda is unknown. Some researchers claim that it was built in the XIII-XIV centuries, others - that in the X-XI centuries.
