Description of the sight

Poltava Shlyakh is one of the most popular streets in Kharkiv, also known as Yekaterinoslavskaya. It is located in the western part of the city. The street connects the center with Zalyutino and Kholodnaya Gora, turning into a road in the direction of Kyiv and Poltava. Its length is 7.65 kilometers. Poltava Shlyakh Street is the administrative border of the Oktyabrsky and Leninsky districts. The street appeared at the end of the 17th century as a road to Poltava, so for a long time it was called Poltava. In the middle of the 18th century, the road to the Novorossiysk Territory passed along Poltava Shlyakh Street, and later to Yekaterinoslav. The name of the street changed accordingly. At the beginning of the 19th century, the avenue was built up with straw-covered houses. Since 1967, capital construction of the street began with presentable residential buildings according to individual projects. Currently, there are many cultural and architectural sights on the Kharkiv Poltava Shlyakh street. Among them: House No. 14 - the corner building of the Moskva Hotel, House No. 3 - the former estate of the merchant Kuzin, House No. 46 - a former apartment building, made in the Art Nouveau style, as well as the Church of the Nativity and the oldest Bommer cinema in the city.
