Description of the sight
The Kharkov Philharmonic was founded in 1929. It is one of the oldest concert organizations in the country. This building, an outstanding cultural center of the city, was visited by P.I. Tchaikovsky, F. Chaliapin, S. Rakhmaninov and many, many other famous artists. Here, in 1896, the famous photographer Alfred Fedetsky held the very first film show in Ukraine, and the first Ukrainian radio station opened the air from here in 1929. The leading team of the Kharkov Philharmonic is the Academic Symphony Orchestra. It consists of more than a hundred highly professional musicians, many of whom already have the titles of laureates of national and international competitions. Concertmaster - People's Artist of Ukraine Igor Shapovalov. Since 2001, the chief conductor of the orchestra and artistic director - Yuriy Yanko - Honored Art Worker of Ukraine. The Kharkov Philharmonic is one of the leading concert organizations in the country. The best examples of modern and classical music are actively promoted here, as well as a lot of work is done on the aesthetic and cultural education of young people.
