Description of the sight
The commemorative Poltava dumpling, installed next to the observation deck on Ivanova Gora, is considered one of the symbols of modern Poltava. The authors of the monument are the artist A. Chernoshchekov and the sculptor N. Tsys. The opening of the monument in 2006 was timed to coincide with the birthday of the writer N. Gogol, who sang dumplings in his works. Initially, the monument was erected near the Assumption Cathedral, but at the request of the faithful, over time, it was moved closer to the Ivanova Gora restaurant. This place is popular with honeymooners and guests of the city. Near the monument, annually in the first decade of June, the Poltava Dumpling Festival is held.
