Description of the sight
The palace and park ensemble "Samchiki" is a museum-estate in the village of Samchiki, which is located a little east of Starokonstantinov. The ensemble is considered one of the best monuments of the country's style. The palace has been quite well preserved to our times, which made it possible to equip a museum-estate here. The history of the Samchiki estate begins at the beginning of the 17th century, when Jan Choetsky, a native of Poland, laid the first buildings over the Sluch River. A palace and park ensemble has been preserved here, which was created as his residence by Colonel Gaisinsky Pyotr Chechel. At his invitation, the best architects, sculptors and gardeners of that time worked here. The palace with white stone columns is open to visitors. Guests are greeted by a smiling stone lion, and escorted by a sad twin brother. The front facade of the palace overlooks the lake. There are about 160 tree species and plant species in the park.
