Description of the sight

Lazar Globa Park is the second of the oldest parks in Dnepropetrovsk and almost the same age as the city. A military and enthusiastic amateur gardener, Yesaul Lazar Ostapovich Globa, retired in 1743 and settled on the banks of the Dnieper River in the settlement of Polovitsa, where he laid the future park. In 1858, the garden was divided into two parts - the urban one, open to vacationers, and the technical one, which houses greenhouses and a gardening and horticulture school. In the thirties of the XX century, the name of the park was changed several times, and in 1939 the park was named after the great pilot-hero Valery Chkalov. In 1992, the Chkalov Park was renamed the Cossack Lazar Globa Park. Today, the Lazar Globa Park is a place where city festivities and various festive events take place. On the territory of the park there are attractions for children, a pond with swans, karting, a summer theater and a dolphinarium.
