Description of the sight
Not far from Kyiv there is an unusual open-air museum. In the village of Pirogovo you have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the peasant life, architecture and creativity of Ukraine in a natural environment. The museum contains more than three hundred interesting buildings and outbuildings that illustrate the life of an ordinary village. On an area of more than 150 hectares there are three separate sectors: the architecture of the Ukrainian village, the interior of the hut and life, as well as separate expositions of folk art. Exhibits have been brought from all over the country for thirty years, turning the open-air museum into a unique architectural monument. Here you can walk along the streets, go into every house, touch and try everything. Pirogovo Museum is a great option to spend time outdoors with the whole family. Taking blankets, you can have a picnic in nature, surrounded by the cozy atmosphere of a Ukrainian village. Children of all ages will be equally interested in learning how the windmill works. Here you can also ride horses. A special highlight of the museum is an old wooden church built without a single nail. For lovers, a wedding ceremony is regularly held here, and many couples specially come to Pirogovo so that a magnificent photo session against the backdrop of atmospheric views remains as a keepsake.
