Description of the sight
The Greek Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located at the intersection of Pushkin and Fedorov streets. The initiator of the construction was the outstanding Transcarpathian educator V. Dovgovich, who was the first of the local scientists to become a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The church was built from 1829 to 1859. A clock made in Munich was installed on the bell tower. In the 1990s the temple was reconstructed, a new iconostasis by I. Volosyansky was installed. In front of the church fence there is a sculpture of the Mother of God with the Child.
