Description of the sight
The stunning, beautiful Cathedral of Christ the Savior is located on the square of Cyril and Methodius of Uzhgorod. It was built in the 1990s on charitable donations from the townspeople. The construction work was finally completed in 2000. The snow-white temple is visible from anywhere in the city and has truly become its “pearl”. The height of the temple is 60 meters, and the main gilded dome is crowned by an 8-meter dome with a golden cross. Next to the golden dome are 4 domes of delicate blue color and smaller. During the construction of the temple, a new architectural technique was used - the construction of a second dome under the main one, and between the walls there is a huge domed space. In this temple, as well as in the Moscow prototype, about 5,000 believers can pray. In addition, the church has a charity canteen for 100 people. Divine services are held here daily from 07.30 to 09.00, and evening services from 17.00.
