Description of the sight
Lutsk Castle is the main attraction of the city. In 2011, he took first place in the list of "Seven Wonders of Ukraine". It is one of the few surviving architectural monuments in Ukraine from the period of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The date of foundation of the castle is considered to be 1340, but the castle existed already in 1085, which is confirmed by the chronicle. Already from the 11th century, a wooden castle stood on this site, but in 1340 stone fortifications began to be built. In 1385 the castle became the residence of Prince Lubart. The castle complex consists of three towers - Entrance, Styrova and Vladycha, which are connected by walls. On the territory of the castle there are residential houses of the nobility and the bishop. Also in the castle are expositions of various museums, including a museum of painting, weapons, bells, building ceramics and printing.
