Description of the sight

St. Volodymyr's Cathedral in Kyiv is dedicated to Prince Vladimir of Kyiv, who introduced Christianity to Russia. The construction of the cathedral took 20 years and was completed in 1882 (the church was consecrated in 1896). The temple was built entirely with donations. The main feature of the temple is mosaics and murals, among which there are not only gospel stories, but also historical paintings and portraits. Such famous artists as Mikhail Vrubel and Viktor Vasnetsov had a hand in the interior of the temple. The central figure is the so-called "Vasnetsov Mother of God". She meets parishioners and looks straight into the soul. The temple is made in the old Byzantine style and conveys the greatness of ancient times and exploits.
