Description of the sight
In 1850-1851, a monastery fence with towers was built on the territory of the Svyatogorsk State Historical and Architectural Reserve. Previously, the fence included four towers, but at present only two have been preserved. One of them is the East Tower, located on the side of the hotel courtyard. The second is Western, located in the residential part of the monastery. Over time, after the closure of the monastery, the towers underwent reconstruction. They were assigned a new function of switchboards. The reconstruction of the Western Tower touched in 1984 and ended 11 years later, in 1995. The tower belonged to the Svyatogorsk State Historical and Architectural Reserve and served as an exhibition space. In 2000, both towers passed into the possession of the monastery. Already in 2003 - 2004, it came to the restoration of the Eastern Tower. Work was carried out to reconstruct the facade and roof of the tower. In our time, visiting the excursion routes of SGIAZ, you can see these towers with your own eyes.
