Description of the sight
In the city of Kolomyia, it is worth seeing the Church of the Virgin Mary. Finding it is easy, because it is located in the center of a small town, the landmark is the market square. This is a Roman Catholic parish, the building was built in the Baroque style in the second half of the 18th century. It entered the history of the church life of the city as a temple that united believing Poles, Germans and Ukrainians. Over the years, the appearance of the church has changed. Once it was a majestic stone cathedral, the walls of which were divided into tiers and decorated with architectural decorations. In 1930, a fire partially destroyed the building. Recovery spanned decades. In 1895, the temple appeared before the parishioners in a new, but more modest appearance. In the Soviet years, the church building was given to the Detsky Mir store. And in 1991 it was returned to believers.
